Closer to the beginning of August our mountain in Millville caught on fire. We finally had a good lightening storm, and it struck the mountain twice, creating two fires, which merged into one. It was a big fire, and it took a few weeks to get it contained.
I read a news report where one of the fire fighters was interviewed. He said he's been fighting fires for 30 years, and has never seen one as hard to fight as this one. The terrain is really difficult, and they couldn't secure a fire line.
All of the fire fighters were camped at a park at the bottom of millville canyon. There is a sweet girl in our neighborhood who asked everybody to drop off treats to her house and she'd deliver them to the fire fighters.
Brooklyn loved making cookies for them. She also painted a picture of some firemen, which she said they would love! She was so proud of herself for helping them. I'm glad she was able to participate in such a great service project.

She still talks about how much she loves fire fighters.
